Crooms' Bradford Barsalou Named Seminole County 2011 Teacher of the Year

The good news for Crooms faculty just keeps on comin'! Last year Dr. Connie Collins was named the Principle of the Year for Seminole County and this year History and American Government teacher Bradford Barsalou was named Seminole County's 2011 Teacher of the Year.


Here is part of the announcement from the press release:

On the evening of April 1, 2010, at the annual Teacher of the Year recognition program, Bradford Barsalou was named the Seminole County 2011 Teacher of the Year, to serve during the 2010-2011 school year. Mr. Barsalou, now in his 8th year of teaching, is a Social Studies teacher at Crooms Academy of Information Technology in Sanford, Florida. The students he teaches throughout the day take such courses as Advanced Placement (AP) US Government & Politics, AP World History, Economics Honors, World History, and Leadership Skills. Students Compete in Contest to Honor Ms. Christy Reynolds and they need your help!

Just received word that a team of the current Croomies qualified as one of the top 20 teams in the country for the National Youth Safety/Allstate "Act Out Loud" Competition. The competition is a way for high schoolers to develop project proposals to make the roads a safer place to drive. Their proposal involved limits on text messaging - as it was revealed the driver that hit Ms. Reynolds was likely text messaging during the accident. The proposal highlights Ms. Reynolds as well.

2010 Crooms AoIT Alumni Community Scholarship Kick-Off!

Today is the day, today is the kick-off celebration for the 2010 Crooms AoIT Alumni Community Scholarship! You can apply for the scholarship by downloading the application from our "Current Offerings" page. You can also find more information about the scholarship and its requirements on "Current Offerings" page or by downloading the application and checking it out for yourself. The scholarship should be used for the purpose of tuition and/or college related expenses.

Crooms AoIT is one of three Teacher of the Year Finalists for SCPS

Bradford Barsalou, a social studies teacher at Crooms AoIT, was named as one of the three finalists for the 2011 Teacher of the Year for Seminole County. Our planning group has put together a small task force to work on designing a new site. The project will be slow moving, but we would like our feedback. Let us know what you would like in a new site, by responding to this post.
