"The 2011 Teacher of the Year for Seminole County will be named during the Teacher of the Year recognition program at Winter Springs High School on THURSDAY, April 1, 2010. The dessert reception begins at 4:30 PM followed by the recognition program 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Teachers of the Year from all the SCPS schools/sites will be honored at this event.
Ten Semifinalists were chosen by the Teacher of the Year Selection Committee. The committee members then visited the classrooms of those 10 teachers in mid-February. From those observations and the reading of the nomination packets, the top three were named; the district winner's name is kept secret until the evening of the April 1st ceremony.
Congratulations to the other semifinalists: Chiles Middle – Cheryl Ziolkowski (Intensive Reading); Eastbrook Elementary – Karen Shearer (1st Grade); Geneva Elementary – Debbie Stephens (Kindergarten); Idyllwilde Elementary – Triscia Panarello (5th Grade); Markham Woods Middle – Catalina Bohorquez (Spanish); Seminole High – Jeane Swaynos (Mathematics); and Wicklow Elementary – Bee Milliron (Reading Specialist)."
