Celebrating Crooms Academy's Centennial (1926–2026)

Founded in 1926 by Joseph and Wealthy Crooms, Crooms Academy holds a distinguished place in history as the first four-year high school for Black students in Seminole County, Florida. Over the past century, the institution has evolved from its humble beginnings in the Goldsboro neighborhood to becoming a trailblazing, award-winning magnet school focused on information technology. The school's resilient journey includes overcoming the challenges of segregation, surviving campus closures, and successfully reinventing itself in 2001 to lead the way in modern educational innovation. Today, as it celebrates its centennial, the academy stands as a testament to its founders' enduring vision, serving hundreds of students with a commitment to excellence and tradition that continues to shape future generations.
