A record three athletics grants to be awarded to Crooms AoIT teams

The Crooms AoIT Alumni Association is pleased to announce that we will provide three (3) athletic grants to seven (7) sports teams and clubs at Crooms AoIT this year. The decision follows a review of the highest number of applications received for the 8th cycle of our Athletics Grant Program. Each team is a first-time applicant for the grant and include:

  • The boys and girls cross country teams: $250 for operational support
  • The boys and girls track/field teams: $250 for operational support
  • The girls cheerleading team: $300 for practice mats

The Crooms AoIT cross country and track/field teams represent the best of Crooms AoIT athletics has to offer. These programs are inclusive, diverse, and had a strong history of success during the Crooms AoIT's the early 2001-2008 seasons. Following the retirement of our beloved Coach Nat Perkins, the teams are undergoing a rebuilding under the leadership of Coach Corey Carter (cross country, Class of 2007) and Coach Eliane Wiedemer (track/field). We look forward to seeing great wins out of these programs in the coming years.

The girls cheerleading team represents the first time in eight grant cycles where the student members of a team applied for a grant. The students showed a strong knowledge of the benefits of their club and the financials required to support it. We are pleased to recognize these young ladies for their efforts and we wish them the best for the school year.

We would like to thank all of our applicants for their continued efforts and support. Because of you, past, current, and future Croomies have a more fulfilling and well-rounded experience during their high school years. Best of luck in the spring sports season this year, and Go Panthers!

Athletic Grant Program Renewed for 2019-2020 School Year

The Crooms AoIT Alumni Association is pleased to announce the renewal of the Athletic Grants Program for the 2019-2020 school year. The renewed grant comes after long time Crooms AoIT Alumni Association supporter and Class of 2011 graduate Gregory Raymond expressed interest in providing financial support for program this year.

Since 2012, the Alumni Association's Grants program has provided athletic clubs, sports teams, and school departments with financial support. Mr. Raymond was a member of the volleyball team during his time at Crooms AoIT and expressed his excitement to see the athletic program at Crooms AoIT continue to expand.

The Crooms AoIT Alumni Association’s grant program has been established to support the arts, athletics, activities and clubs at Crooms Academy of Information Technology in pursuit of a full and enriching academic experience for every student. The Alumni Association raises funds for the grant program through the use of private donations, which are separate from our membership dues. To keep the grant program viable, we ask that your team or program members and families become involved in the to the Alumni Association's events and activities now or in the future to ensure future students are able to receive similar support.

A total of $500 will be distributed during the Fall 2019 grant season. Multiple grants may be awarded, as such, applicants are encouraged to only apply for the amount they need. All funds distributed this season will be issued to a sporting team or athletic club, coach, or physical education program at Crooms Academy of Information Technology.
