The Crooms AoIT Alumni Association has awarded two scholarships this year to graduating seniors. The recipient of the 7th annual Crooms AoIT Alumni Association Community Scholarship for $600 is Bradley Mauger and the recipient of the 1st Crooms AoIT Alumni Association Tech Innovation Scholarship for $1,500 is Paul Dela Cruz.
The Crooms AoIT Alumni Association Community Scholarship is meant to honor a student that exemplifies not only academic and extracurricular achievement, but also demonstrates a dedication to community service and involvement. Bradley's involvement at Crooms AoIT included being treasurer of the National Honor Society, a member of BETA club, and an ambassador to the PTSA. In his free time, he volunteered with several organizations, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Cure CMD, and Canine Companions for Independence. Bradley intends to study finance at one of Florida's public universities upon graduation.
The Crooms AoIT Alumni Association Tech Innovation Scholarship recognizes an individual who has used their technical acumen to create or contribute to a technology-based project: anything from a graphics design to a website to a robotics building kit or data visualization. This year's recipient went above our expectations and not only programmed a video game, but also created the story, designed the artwork, created the maps, created some of the audio files, created a video trailer, and provided the his game for download to the public. You can check out Paul's on his scholarship winning game - Sword of Light III - at http://rpgmaker.net/games/6044/. Paul will be attending Seminole State upon graduation.
