URGENT: Tell the Florida House About Ms. Reynolds and Ex The Text!

NEED YOUR ACTION TODAY AND TOMORROW; FORWARD THIS ALONG IF YOU CAN

The Florida Senate has passed a ban on texting while driving, but the bill has stalled in the House. Representative Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale, chairwoman of the House Finance and Tax Council, is attempting to kill the bill in committee. With the legislative session ending on Friday, it looks like she will very well succeed.

As you remember, our friend and teacher Ms. Christy Reynolds was killed in car accident in late 2009. Her daughter and niece were seriously injured in the crash as well. It is suspected that the driver that hit them was texting. It is time to send a message that distracted driving is dangerous. Text messaging is banned for all drivers in 23 states and the District of Columbia. Under the proposed law, texting while driving would be banned and would be a secondary offensive. This means if you are pulled for for speeding or some other primary offense, you could be ticketed for texting as well. The idea is to send a message that distracted driving is bad!
